The PS2 port is not working anymore in Windows nor at boot time, but it works fine with a Linux Live CD. I'm using a USB keyboard in Windows, but my problem is that I can't access BIOS setup because USB keyboards doesn't work till I start Windows.
I am using a brand new Radio Shack PS2 keyboard and new Radio Shack PS2 mouse. I · unsoldered a new USB to PS2 cable adapter ($22) as PS2 cables are not easy to find · cheaply. · All the connections check out from the end of the PS2 connector to the P24 - P26 connections including the 100 and 10K ohm checks.
Symptoms: Windows. Built-in ps/2 keyboard does not work after waking laptop from sleep mode. It shows up fine in device manager. But, if you return the laptop to sleep mode again, then the keyboard works fine. Or reload. linux. On linux, everything is exactly the same, only the touchpad does not work after sleep mode. SOLUTION THAT HELPED ME:
Re: ps/2 connector keyboard not working Yes if you use a usb keyboard you will have first have to use a PS2 keyboard to get the driver installed for the usb keyboard one. Lets not work with the usb one yet until we have straightened out the problem with the PS2. Ok go into bios and see that the PS2 keyboard is enabled and while your in there
First, re-seat the connections to the motherboard. Check the hidden devices in device manager for it, enable it from there if it's there. If those don't help, try another keyboard.
Also not working for me on my Z500, It seems to be an issue to do with the Intel Chipset Drivers. On my system I've had to turn off automatic driver download because it breaks -everything-.. A (temporary) solution that works for me is to litterally go into device manager on the laptop, and uninstall the chipset controller, then restart.
